He just kept showing up. He was always sending encouraging texts and just checking in with me to make sure I was doing ok. He cared and wanted to help me however he could.
After a few months, I just had to let him know how I felt. I wasn’t always talkative or responsive to his questions, so I knew I needed to tell him. I didn’t grow up with a dad but how he was helping me, urging me to be my best, and even holding me accountable, was what I thought a dad was supposed to be like. He was like a dad. I respected and needed that.
Thanks Gary for being my mentor and helping me to learn what it meant to be an adult. You mean the world to me for helping me to see a whole new world.
